Biblical Proof That Jesus is Coming Soon!

It is always exciting to discover something in the Bible you never saw before and I want to share something new that I just found a few days ago. It blew my mind and I think you will find it exciting.

I was reading in Revelation and read this verse:

“At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.” (Revelation 11:13)

Now this event happens in Jerusalem after the Rapture during the 7-year Tribulation. Note that one-tenth of Jerusalem falls and that 7,000 people die in Jerusalem as a result of the earthquake. We can deduce some things from these figures. One thing we know is that it would have been impossible for this prophecy to be fulfilled in the year 1525 when the population of Jerusalem was only 5,612. Pretty difficult to have 7,000 people die in the city when less than that live there.

What should the population of Jerusalem be expected to be when this prophecy is fulfilled? It would make sense to correlate that the 7,000 people who die may represent approximately one-tenth of the population of Jerusalem, since it states that one-tenth of the city falls. So if 7,000 is a tenth of the people, then the population would be around 70,000 when this event happens. So a reasonable figure for the population in Jerusalem at the time of this earthquake should be around 60,000 to 80,000 people. That is if the assumption that ten percent of the population dies.

However, it is difficult to be dogmatic about that assumption. There are simply too many variables with an earthquake. In the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 the death toll exceeded 3,000, out of a population of 400,000. That is just a bit less than one percent of the population.

What percentage of the Jerusalem population will be killed in the prophesied earthquake? I think it is a reasonable assumption to say that the percentage will be somewhere between 1 percent and 10 percent. Based upon that, we can assert that the population in Jerusalem at the time of the earthquake will be between 70,000 and 700,000 people.

During the Middle Ages and the Ottoman Era the population was well below the minimum figure of 70,000. Generally, a population of a city grows over time, and such is the case with Jerusalem. By 1838 Jerusalem had 11,500 people, and it continued to grow: 1806 – 8,774, 1844 – 15,510, 1846 – 17,173, 1882 – 21,000, 1905 – 32,400.

But all of these populations are too low for the prophecy. So in what year did the population reach the minimum number for the likely fulfillment of the earthquake prophecy? The 1931 census shows 90,053 and is the first one to show the population over the minimum of 70,000. That is 17 years before Jerusalem became a nation again. What is the population of Jerusalem now? The Census in 2011 in Jerusalem was 801,000 people. Just a bit over the maximum 700,000 needed, if we calculate 1 percent of the population is killed. In fact, if the earthquake happened now, the death toll would be just under one percent, just like the ratio in the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.

So what does this mean? It means that since 1931 the time became ripe for the prophecy to be fulfilled and that today the time is more than ripe. The time frame 1931 to today is a period that matches the demographic data for the Jerusalem earthquake. In fact, at no other time in history, since the middle ages, has there been sufficient population in Jerusalem for this event to come to pass. When you add in the fact that during this time period Israel became a nation again after 2,000 years in exile, the era becomes even more significant.

One more thing is significant about this passage. All through Revelation as terrible things happen we read that, “they cursed the God of heaven…they did not repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.” (Rev 16:11) But in the case of the Jerusalem earthquake we read, “the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.” (Revelation 11:13). In Romans 11:26 the Apostle Paul tells us that someday, “all Israel will be saved.” It appears that this happens or begins to happen at this earthquake.

All of this means that the Tribulation is very close, and since the Rapture happens before that, the return of Christ for His Church is imminent! Jesus said, “When you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.” The world is literally going to Hell in a hand basket, but look up, our redemption draweth nigh!
