Zohran Mamdani: New York’s Communist Jihadist Mayor
On November 4, 2025, Zohran Mamdani become the mayor of New York City. At just 34 years old, Mamdani becomes not only the youngest mayor the city has had in more than a century, but also its first Muslim, first person of South Asian descent, and first openly declared socialist to hold the office. But as we shall see, he is more than a socialist; he is a communist and an Islamic Jihadist who hates America.
For Christians and all who care about moral clarity, personal liberty, and the protection of innocent life, his election marks a moment that demands discernment. Who is Zohran Mamdani—and what do his words and ideology reveal about the direction he intends to lead America’s largest city?
The Promises on the Table
Mamdani campaigned as a grassroots progressive with a platform centered on redistribution of wealth and government expansion. He pledged to raise the minimum wage to $30 per hour by 2030, freeze rents on stabilized apartments, make city buses fare-free, increase taxes on the wealthy, and greatly expand city-funded housing.
Caring for the poor is a biblical command—but it is a command for Christians and churches to be benevolent, who through no fault of their own have fallen into hard times. It is not a mandate for the government to steal from hard-working American to give to the lazy and foolish. Redistribution that undermines personal incentive or property rights will only yield poverty rather than prosperity (Proverbs 10:4; Ephesians 4:28).
Troubling Lyrics Praising Convicted Terror Financiers
Before entering politics, Zohran Mamdani performed under the stage name “Mr. Cardamom.” In his 2017 track Salaam, he included the line:
“My love to the Holy Land Five. You better look ’em up.”
As reported by the New York Post (June 21, 2025), the “Holy Land Five” were leaders of the Holy Land Foundation, convicted in 2008 for funneling millions of dollars to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization responsible for murdering Israeli and American civilians.
From a Christian moral standpoint, such a lyric cannot be dismissed as harmless artistic expression. Scripture commands believers to “abhor what is evil; cling to what is good” (Romans 12:9). Expressing affection for men convicted of funding terror runs counter to the biblical call to peace, justice, and truth. Public officials must be held to a higher standard—especially when their words honor those who aided violence against the innocent. Make no mistake. Mamdani is a Muslim terrorist and we can expect he will do all he can to turn New York into New Yorkistan.
Ideological Warning Signals
Mamdani’s political identity is equally concerning. During a 2021 gathering of the Young Democratic Socialists of America, he said his “end goal” was “seizing the means of production.” (Mediaite, March 2021).
Such rhetoric is a cornerstone of Marxist and communist thought, which has historically resulted in economic ruin and suppression of faith wherever implemented. Christians affirm the right to earn, own, and steward property as gifts from God (Genesis 1:28; Proverbs 13:11). When government seeks to “seize” the means of production, it effectively replaces individual stewardship with state control—an arrangement that Scripture repeatedly warns against (1 Samuel 8:10-18).
Equally alarming is Mamdani’s ambition to do away with private property. In a 2020 podcast clip, Zohran Mamdani discussed housing policy and said, “If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing—whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it a statewide housing guarantee—it is preferable to what is going on right now.” There we have it: Mamdani would like to take away everyone’s home and force them into government-controlled rentals.
Mamdani’s call for radical economic overhaul, combined with his open admiration for socialist movements, reveals a worldview fundamentally at odds with biblical teaching on work, freedom, and moral accountability.
Mamdani the Anti-Semite
Critics note that Mamdani has aligned himself with activist movements sharply critical of Israel and sympathetic to pro-Palestinian organizations that often blur the line between advocacy and antisemitism. His advocacy that city pension funds be divested from companies linked to Israel shows a willingness to politicize public assets for ideological ends.
For a city still scarred by the 9/11 terror attacks, a mayor with a history of praising convicted Hamas financiers and embracing radical socialism should give pause. Christians, Jews, and all freedom-loving citizens have reason to insist on transparency and moral accountability in city leadership.
Zohran Mamdani has drawn repeated accusations of antisemitism for a pattern of statements and actions: he openly backs the BDS campaign against Israel, reaffirming on MSNBC that “I support BDS,” a stance many Jewish groups say singles out Jews and Israel unfairly. He also shared a Hanukkah parody clip on social media that StopAntisemitism called “sick” and mocking of Jewish ritual, prompting wider criticism after it resurfaced during his mayoral run.
Mamdani vowed to scrap New York City’s use of the IHRA definition of antisemitism—endorsed by Holocaust-remembrance authorities—drawing condemnation from bipartisan lawmakers and communal organizations. In Albany, he sponsored a bill targeting tax-exempt donations to Israeli settlement groups, which opponents labeled discriminatory and “purely antisemitic.” Additionally, he has faced scrutiny for refusing to condemn the slogan “globalize the intifada,” which means basically, “Kill Jews all over the world.”
Let the Criminals Roam Free!
In 2020, Mamdani publicly embraced “defund” rhetoric—tweeting:
“We don’t need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety. What we need is to Defund the New York Police Department.”
Mamdani’s position on prisons is alarming: an August 2020 podcast clip shows Mamdani questioning the very purpose of incarceration:
“What purpose do prisons serve, besides making people feel good?”
As a candidate, he tied that view to policy by pushing to close Rikers on the current timeline and shrink the jail population through faster court processing and additional reforms—positions critics warn would amount to opening the doors without workable replacements. We can expect that Mamdani will cut the police budget and implement changes that releases dangerous criminals onto the streets of New York.
Why All This Matters for Christians, Families, and the City
The impact of this election on religious freedom, education, and moral policy will be catastrophic. Will churches remain free to preach biblical truth? Will faith-based charities be permitted to minister without compromise? Government promises of “free” services often come with hidden costs—higher taxes, fewer jobs, and dependence on the state rather than on God and community. New York thrives when enterprise and creativity flourish. Excessive taxation and socialist economics drive away the very businesses that fund public programs. The biblical principle is simple: liberty produces abundance; coercion breeds decay.
Zohran Mamdani wants to end private ownership of houses, confiscate businesses, and bring in full-blown communism ruled by Muslim extremists. A dark day has come to New York City, and we can expect that lawlessness in New Yorkistan will increase dramatically. As businesses flee from communist New York, the city will sink into poverty. We can expect that five times a day the horrid sound of the Muslim call to prayer will blared from loudspeakers throughout the city.
