An intriguing passage in Daniel 2:44 speaks of the ten kingdoms of the last days – ten rulers who will unite their nations into a powerful coalition — a Ten Nation Confederacy, often referred to as a Revived Roman Empire. During the reign of these kings, Christ will return and establish His Millennial Kingdom on Earth.
“And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” (Daniel 2:44)
This verse refers to Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the great statue (Daniel 2:41–44). The ten toes of the statue symbolize the revived form of the ancient Roman Empire — a future coalition of ten nations that will rise in the last days. The same confederacy is also mentioned in the book of Revelation.
The Ten Kingdoms
When Daniel 2:44 says, “in the days of those kings,” it refers to the ten-kingdom empire of the end times: “the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings” (Daniel 7:24) and “the ten horns which you saw are ten kings” (Revelation 17:12).
Putting these passages together, Scripture reveals that when Christ returns at the end of the age — not at the Rapture, but at His Second Coming — a ten-nation confederacy, or the ten kingdoms, will exist. It is during “the days of those kings” that Christ will return to Earth and destroy their kingdoms.
Those who were previously raptured will return with Him:
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings…these have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12–14)
“and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.” (Zechariah 14:5)
“…so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.” (1 Thessalonians 3:13)
“I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war… And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.” (Revelation 19:11–16)
This is an essential distinction: at the Rapture, Christ returns for His saints; at the Second Coming, He returns with His saints.
The Days of Those Kings
The nations of the European Union today occupy nearly the same territory as the old Roman Empire. From this region will emerge the Ten Nation Confederacy (the ten kingdoms) that will align with the Antichrist. They will ultimately unite in rebellion against God and in war against Christ at His return.
While these events will unfold after the Rapture, the groundwork is already visible. Europe has long abandoned Christianity, and uncontrolled immigration has brought millions of Muslims into its borders — many of whom hold deeply antisemitic views. Antisemitism has even reached the highest levels of government. Both the UK and the EU have officially recognized a so-called Palestinian state, presuming the right to divide the land of Israel according to their own designs.
Is Europe Turning Antisemitic?
Across Europe, the rapid growth of Islam has sparked widespread anxiety. As the fastest-growing major religion in Europe, Islam’s expansion has been accompanied by changing cultural norms, rising hostility toward traditional Christianity, and mounting social tension. Many fear that Europe’s Christian foundations are being eroded, its moral compass lost, and its institutions swayed by alien ideologies. Across the UK and the EU, at least 4,200 churches have closed or ceased worship in recent years, while mosque numbers have grown by roughly 15–20% over the past decade.
Critics often point to numerous troubling passages in Islamic scripture that display open hostility toward Jews and Christians:
“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies.” (Surah 5:51)
“Verily they are disbelievers and infidels who say, ‘the Messiah, son of Mary, is God.’” (Qur’an 5:17)
“Killing disbelievers is a small matter to us.” (Tabari IX:69)
“Kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, torture them…” (Qur’an 9:5)
“…Just issue orders to kill every Jew in the country.” (Bukhari V1B1N6)
“Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.” (Qur’an 5:51)
“The Jews are a nation of liars…the Jews are a treacherous, lying and evil people.” (Ishaq:240)
“The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or tree would say: ‘Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.’” (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith 6985)
These texts are not merely historical. The final citation explicitly predicts that Muslims will fight against Jews at the end of the age. Thus, Islamic scripture itself portrays ongoing enmity toward Israel and the Jewish people in perpetuity.
Given such passages — along with the actions of Islamic terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, the PLO, and others — many observers conclude that Islam is the most antisemitic religion in the world. Of course, not every Muslim shares these beliefs, just as not every Nazi embraced the ideology of Hitler. Yet it only takes a zealous minority to unleash great evil upon humanity.
The Ten Kingdoms in Prophecy
The ten kingdoms prophecy of the Bible foretells that the Antichrist and the Ten Nation Confederacy will be fiercely antisemitic. Considering Europe’s present drift, we can see how this prophecy could soon be fulfilled. Once the Church is removed in the Rapture, the Antichrist will rise and lead ten kings in a campaign to destroy Israel. At that time, all of Israel will turn to Christ — and the Lord will return in blazing glory to defend His chosen people.
